Supporting our Communities

Top Up Shop: Wednesdays 11:00 am -12.15 pm | £2 per bag | All Welcome

Whitton Parish is a proud participant in Top Up Shops Ipswich, an initiative focused on alleviating food poverty and social deprivation within our local area. We work in partnership with organizations such as FareShare, Neighbourly, and various local food wholesalers and producers. This allows us to provide good quality food to local residents at discounted prices. Beyond food, we also aim to offer care and support through wellbeing and other groups, inspired by the love of Jesus. Our ultimate goal is to support those who may feel unheard, lack food, or feel without hope.

Accessing Our Top Up Shop

Our Top Up Shop operates weekly in the church hall, providing an option for those who find it challenging to afford sufficient food. There's no referral needed. Simply bring £2 for a reusable bag, and you can select from the available goods. Everyone in need of food is welcome. You'll find a welcoming atmosphere, opportunities for conversation, and a sense of community alongside the food.

Mums and Tots Group | Every Wednesday 1:15 pm - 2:45 pm  | St Mary and St Boltoph's Church Hall

Looking for fun, chat, and play in a friendly environment? Come and join our Mums and Tots Group! We're a happy, welcoming community, eager to meet you and your little ones (up to school age). It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents and carers while your children play, have fun, and learn to socialise.

We offer a wide variety of toys for your children to enjoy, plus a book library where you can borrow stories to read at home. On your first afternoon, we'll chat with you and share details about our upcoming activities. On the second Wednesday of each month, we also have a short, child-friendly gathering in the church, complete with action songs and a story, followed by more play and snack time back in the hall. All are welcome! We ask for just 50p per session to help cover our costs, including snack time and activities.

Our group was started over 40 years ago to provide a welcoming space where mums and children could meet new friends, and we've been going strong ever since! We welcome you any Wednesday during term time. Come and meet new friends with little ones just like yours, or bring a friend along with their children up to school age too.

Angela and I have been involved with the group for many years and eagerly look forward to greeting you and telling you more about what to expect. On your first visit, you'll receive a new member's letter with more information about our group and contact numbers should you need them.

So, come along any Wednesday during term time and see for yourself! For more details, please feel free to telephone Bridget Kemp on 01473 286663 or Angela Parobij on 01473 251980. Or simply drop in – we can't wait to meet you!

WhizKidz | Every Monday after school until 4:30pm (term time only) | The Ascension

We are the Whitton Kidz Musical Drama Group! Our mission is to give children in the local community the chance to sing, perform, and most importantly, have a blast! Through our performances and productions, children can express themselves creatively and boost their self-confidence.

We are a FREE club and meet every Monday afternoon straight after school until 4:30 PM (term time only) at the Ascension Church, Larchcroft Road, Ipswich.

Formed in September 2017, we currently have 12 enthusiastic children and would love to see that number grow! We started by singing fun Disney songs, then in December 2017, we performed the delightful Christmas production of ‘Straw and Order’ and also participated in the Crib Service at St Mary and St Botolph’s Church on Christmas Eve. In June 2018, we presented ‘A Night at the Musicals,’ singing beloved songs from shows like The Lion King, Les Misérables, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and many more. We even showcased some of these songs again in July at ‘Music for a Summer’s Evening’ at St Mary and St Botolph’s Church.

Sound like fun? If you are aged 7-11 and enjoy singing, dancing, acting, and having fun, then come along to WhizKidz – we would absolutely love to see you! There's a drink and a yummy biscuit every week before we start rehearsing!

If performing isn't quite your thing, we always need help with making props and backstage jobs. Come along to find out more and be a part of the magic!
